November PAD Chapbook Challenge Update
Posted by Robert

Today, I received the first chapbook submission for the November PAD Chapbook Challenge. So, the contest has now officially begun, I guess. The first shot has been fired.

I imagine there will be more submissions around the holidays, and then a mad sprint between January 1 and January 5.

If you need a reminder on the rules, here they are: http://blog.writersdigest.com/poeticasides/November+PAD+Chapbook+Challenge+Next+Steps.aspx.

Wow- that is awesome! I bet you were excited! My life is very busy right now but I plan on submitting one soon, too.

Thats great. I'm still working on mine. I was wondering Robert... can I submit two? My poems are shaping up into two books... what do you think?

Thanks

Dang! These Wednesday prompts are far apart! I feel like I'm hanging in limbo here.
Maybe I'll write another chapbook with the November prompts, using a different theme. How about that...

Robert - Okay, so I got over my disappointment of not being able to include illustrations, lol, :-) and now I realize I'm hitting a wall because I have two questions whirling around in my head. I could have sworn that you said only one poem per page but the rules say 10 - 12 pages of poems - so can there be more than one poem per page?
The other question is do we have to do the bookfold format in Word so it looks like a chapbook or are you just looking for a standard document, a rough draft?
Thanks so much for answering my questions! Michelle

Well, nobody rose up and shot me down for entering my poem on the wrong day, so I'll do it again--feel free to tell me if I have it all wring.

Gardening

The solstice grips us
in its icy hand,
with late mornings,
early misty nights.
Gloom wants to gather
at the edges of our day.
But in this winter
there are Christmas lights.
And the Lord whose angels sang
is mindful of our needs.
the promise of spring comes
in catalogues of seeds.

Penny, generally we keep the poems with the prompts. I know a lot of people do check back and read the new poems. But I'm sure no one faults anyone for putting it in the latest post.

Thanks, Connie. By the way, I'm missing CPD, and was glad for the "fix"
